Drinking adequate quantities of fluid lowers the risk of bladder infections. Water is the best fluid to maintain a healthy bladder. One should avoid drinking too many sweetened drinks.
When your fluid intake is more, it helps dilute your urine, increases the number of times you urinate which helps to flush out bacteria from the urinary tract. The bacteria are trying to enter the bladder and need to be stopped naturally and drinking water provides a natural defence
The correct water intake depends upon your age, health condition and the climate you live in. Most healthy people generally take fluid intake 8-ounce glasses (that’s about 2 litres) of fluids per day.
A person with health conditions like chronic kidney or heart diseases should check with the doctor regarding the fluid intake. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) also called chronic renal failure, chronic renal disease, chronic kidney failure. It’s a slow and loss of kidney function over a period of time. And for those on dialysis treatment should limit the fluid intake because over intake of fluid can cause swelling and stress on the heart and lungs.
Patients with heart failure, fluid restriction is based on body weight 30ml/kg/per day.
